Thermo Scientific

RadEye B20

First responders need to quickly identify mixed radioactive surface contamination in facility and field environments. The Thermo Scientific RadEye B20 is simple, robust, reliable contamination and dose rate measurement tools for characterizing alpha, beta, gamma and X-ray radiation.

The RadEye B20 Multi-Purpose handheld Geiger counter provide an on-site solution for homeland security personnel, fire brigades, emergency response personnel, agencies involved in decontamination and decommissioning projects and hospital and pharmaceutical industry employees.

RadEye B20

Multi-Purpose Survey Meter

The Thermo Scientific RadEye B20 model is the next generation line of improved quick survey and precision scaler measurement meters. This modern and compact survey meter measures alpha, beta, gamma and X-ray surface contamination. In addition this pocket-sized instrument can also be used for accurate doserate surveys, if used with optional energy compensated filters (17 keV – 3 MeV). For emergency response applications, the alpha and beta contamination measurements can be discriminated using the optional alpha blocker filter.

More specifically, the neutron background count rate of the SPRD-GN contains true neutron events only which allows the setting of very sensitive neutron count rate alarm levels. Lastly, a continuous reference for fine gain adjustments associated with gamma IDs is accomplished by monitoring the cosmic background neutron peak in the spectrum. This permanent source-less stabilization of the complete system is achieved even over open water where there is an absence of any naturally occurring radioactivity.

The RadEye B20 will automatically switch to the proper measuring unit, if any auto detection filter is fitted to the face of the B20 detector. This automatic function helps to avoid accidental misuse and to quickly change from one measurement to the next.
