    Description

    RadEye SPRD-GN

    Thermo Scientific

The Thermo Scientific RadEye SPRD-GN is a next-generation, compact spectroscopic personal radiation detector (SPRD) that delivers RIID-level gamma identification and advanced neutron detection in a pager-sized form factor. Engineered for frontline deployment, it significantly exceeds the ANSI N42.48 2008 standards for neutron alarms—making it ideal for homeland security, customs, border patrol, and nuclear facility personnel.

At the heart of the SPRD-GN is a sophisticated Cs₂LiYCl₆:Ce (CLYC) detector, which is both gamma- and neutron-sensitive, eliminating the need for separate, bulky neutron tubes like He-3 counters. This single-detector design enables true dual-radiation performance in a highly portable device.

The unit uses Pulse Shape Discrimination (PSD) to clearly distinguish between neutron and gamma radiation, allowing for highly sensitive and specific alarm thresholds. Additionally, its real-time spectrum monitoring incorporates a cosmic background neutron peak to maintain source-less stabilization, even in environments like open water with no natural radioactivity.
