Engineered for extreme portability and accelerated workflows, the Biomeme/5 delivers rapid DNA/RNA identification at the point of need for Federal Agencies, State & Local Authorities, and Military teams. It identifies up to 60 targets from a single sample, with minimal sample preparation and confirmatory-grade molecular results, without the need for specialized lab equipment or extensive training.
Research Use OnlyThe Biomeme/5 is for Research Use Only. IVD Products are currently in development at Biomeme. Not currently for use in diagnostic procedures.
The Biomeme/5 runs Biomeme’s DTECT® isothermal chemistry. Instead of cycling the reaction through precise temperature changes, it holds one constant temperature and adds a targeted endonuclease that is directed only at the target of interest.
The reaction is heated and cooled again and again (thermal cycling).
One constant temperature, with a targeted endonuclease mechanism that Biomeme says eliminates non-specific amplification.
Biomeme describes DTECT® as bridging the gap: it uses the constant-temperature speed of isothermal amplification, but introduces a highly specific, targeted endonuclease mechanism.
The enzyme is directed exclusively to the specific target of interest.
Non-specific amplification is eliminated, so the reaction’s resources go toward the correct target.
No thermal cycling to wait on. Biomeme lists a time to result of ~12 minutes, with a fully automated process requiring minimal sample volume.
Both quantitative and qualitative results from a single run, with raw data available (Ct/Cq values).
Isothermal nucleic acid amplification with fully automated, integrated sample preparation, administered easily by non-lab technicians at the point of need. Instrument set-up takes under a minute.

A swab-dropper bottle, fixed-volume transfer pipette and SampleDirect prep device collect and prep an environmental sample. Every Biomeme/5 panel order already includes the collection components needed to run its tests.
Simplified sample prepEach single-use cartridge is prepped with all necessary multiplexed molecular assay components, with shelf-stable lyophilized reagents.
Lyophilized cartridgeStart the run from the integrated touchscreen and buttons. Sample preparation and DTECT® amplification are automated inside the instrument. Training required: minimal.
Set-up <1 minuteUp to 60 DNA/RNA targets identified from the one sample, with raw Ct/Cq data. Real-time sync with the Biomeme Cloud, and an ATAK companion plugin for tactical deployment.
~12 minutes to resultThe confidence of the molecular method, with the operational simplicity that previously belonged only to lateral flow immunoassays. How Biomeme describes the Biomeme/5
One instrument and one user workflow across three jobs: identifying biothreats, training responders on simulants, and confirming the instrument is ready before it is relied on.

Engineered for the rapid identification of 17 critical biothreats in less than 15 minutes. A nucleic acid amplification test panel for biosurveillance, run on single-use cartridges with shelf-stable lyophilized reagents.

Identifies four common biowarfare simulant organisms for realistic training exercises, without the risk of handling actual BSL2–4 biothreats. Same single-use cartridges and the same user workflow.

Straightforward performance checks with clear pass/fail results, verifying the instrument’s functionality and readiness for biowarfare agent identification. Ideal for routine assessment.
Cartridges are shelf-stable, single-use consumables with lyophilized reagents, and Biomeme lists a 2-year assay shelf life.
Five each of a fixed-volume liquid transfer pipette, swab-dropper bottle, and SampleDirect prep device.
Five each of a 1 mL syringe and 5 µm pre-filter attachment, for environmental samples that need pre-filtration before running on a Biomeme/5 panel.
Panel orders already include the collection components needed to run their tests. These kits restock them for extended environmental sampling. Ask us about panels and kits when you request information.
A ruggedized, portable package that combines enhanced multiplexing, rapid isothermal amplification and wireless connectivity, with secure connectivity for any mission.
Rated IP65.
Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) batteries the operator can swap.
Instrument set-up time <1 minute. No preventative maintenance required.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy for real-time data sync and secure integrations, plus USB-C.
A dedicated companion plugin for tactical deployment and situational awareness.
Secure data management, analytics and data sharing, local export, and a Web API for LIMS and custom workflows.
The Biomeme/5 runs DTECT® isothermal amplification on Biomeme/5 cartridges; the Franklin ISP runs its own ISP cartridges. Each has its own page.
