    Overview

The GMI GT-Fire is a handheld gas detector designed specifically for fire departments answering odor-of-gas calls and gas alarm activations. Where a personal 4-gas monitor is built to protect the wearer, the GT-Fire is built to find the leak: a semiconductor sensor reads methane down to single-ppm resolution so crews can trace low concentrations back to the source, while a catalytic sensor covers 0-100% LEL for flammability assessment.

After evacuation, crews can run a full leak investigation with one instrument instead of standing by for the utility. An integral pump with flow-fail detection draws the sample through a flexible probe, a loud audible and highly visible 'ticker' rises with concentration on the ppm range, and a built-in flashlight helps in basements, meter rooms and crawl spaces. Higher models add CO, O2 and H2S for occupant and crew safety.

The GT-Fire runs about 8 hours on three standard C-cell alkaline or rechargeable batteries, carries UL 913 Class I Div 1 intrinsic-safety approval, and logs readings both manually and automatically so incident data can be downloaded for reports.

    • Dedicated fire-service leak investigation instrument, not a personal monitor
    • Methane 0-10,000 ppm (semiconductor) for pinpointing low-level leaks
    • Methane 0-100% LEL (catalytic bead) on GT-Fire 51 and up
    • Optional CO, O2 and H2S sensors depending on model
    • Loud audible and high-visibility Geiger-style ticker on the ppm range
    • Integral sample pump with pressure-sensed flow-fail detection and hydrophobic filter
