    FLIR K33

    High-Performance TIC 240×180

An easy-to-use thermal imaging camera that offers affordability without sacrificing the reliability, clarity, or performance that first responders expect from FLIR. Patented FSX® Flexible Scene Enhancement intensifies the structural and textural detail in the thermal image, and FLIR built it to be affordable enough for crews to have multiple TICs in use at a fire scene.

    • What it is

FLIR's patented image processing, listed as Contrast optimization: Digital image enhancement using FSX, built into the camera.

    • What it does

It brings out the structure and texture in a thermal scene and adds edge detail for greater perspective and increased navigational capabilities.

    • Why it matters

FLIR says the enhanced perspective and greater orientation improves firefighters' tactical decision-making, and helps improve situational awareness and give firefighters a greater sense of confidence and safety.

    Heat & toughness

What it reads, what it can take

Two different numbers that are easy to mix up. Object temperature range is how hot a surface in the scene can be and still be measured. Operating temperature is how much heat the camera itself is rated to work in, and for how long.

    FAQ

    K33 questions

    What does FSX® actually do?
FSX® Flexible Scene Enhancement is FLIR's patented digital image processing. FLIR says it intensifies the structural and textural details in the thermal image and adds edge detail for greater perspective and increased navigational capabilities. On the K33 it is listed as Contrast optimization: Digital image enhancement using FSX.
Can the K33 record images or video?
No. The K33 has no JPEG storage, and trigger-pull recording and stored images are K53-only features. On the K33, pulling and holding the trigger freezes the image on screen (image freeze is configurable).
    Does it stream video live?
Not wirelessly: the K33 does not offer live streaming. It supports non-radiometric IR video streaming as uncompressed colorized video over USB.
How hot can the camera get and keep working?
    The K33's operating range is -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F) with no time limit, 15 minutes at 150°C (302°F) and 5 minutes at 260°C (500°F). Separately, it measures object temperatures from -4°F to 302°F (-20°C to 150°C) and 32°F to 1202°F (0°C to 650°C).
How long does the battery last, and how is it charged?
The Li-ion, 3.6 V rechargeable battery is rated at 6.2 Ah, with an operating time of >5 hours at 25°C (77°F) ambient temperature and typical use. Charging time is 2 h to 85% capacity, with charging status indicated by LEDs. The battery can be charged inside the camera or in the 2-bay charger. Two batteries are listed in the package contents.
How does the K33 compare with the FLIR K2?
    Compared with the K2, the K33 has 240 x 180 IR resolution (K2: 160 x 120), <40 mK thermal sensitivity (K2: <100 mK), a 51° × 38° field of view (K2: 47° × 35°) and an upper object temperature range to 1202°F (K2: 932°F). See the comparison table or the FLIR K2 page.
    How rugged is it?
It is water-resistant to IP 67 (IEC 60529) and rugged enough to withstand a drop from 2 m (6.6 ft) onto a concrete floor. Shock is rated at 25 g (IEC 60068-2-27) and vibration at 2 g (IEC 60068-2-6).
    What warranty does FLIR offer?
FLIR's Fire Service 2-5-10 Limited Warranty lists the K33. Under those terms, with registration within sixty (60) days of purchase, batteries are warranted for two (2) years, product components (excluding batteries and sensors) for five (5) years and uncooled thermal camera sensors for ten (10) years; otherwise a limited one (1) year warranty applies. Eligibility conditions, including where the camera was purchased, are in the warranty PDF.
