    MultiRAE

Wireless portable six-gas monitor with advanced VOC detection capability

A pumped multi-gas monitor you build around the job from 25 intelligent interchangeable sensor options, including PID for VOCs, NDIR for combustibles and CO2, and electrochemical sensors for toxic gases and oxygen. Six readings require the CO + H2S combination sensor, which reads both CO and H2S from a single sensor position. Honeywell positions it for industrial hygiene, personal protection, leak detection and HazMat response.

    Six readings. Twenty-five sensors.

The MultiRAE family can display readings from one to six sensors, depending on the configuration. Below are the 25 sensor options, grouped into five families, with range and resolution. Sensors marked “Sold separately” also have their own product page as replacement parts.

    Six readings

Six readings take the CO + H2S combo sensor

A two-gas combination sensor is required for a 6-gas configuration. That sensor is the carbon monoxide (CO) + hydrogen sulfide (H2S) combo. That one sensor reads both CO and H2S from a single sensor position.

The unit pictured above reads oxygen, LEL, CO, H2S and VOC.

Example: six readings from five sensors — the CO + H2S combo sensor supplies two of them. Illustration.

    Power & upkeep

Swap the pack, keep the shift

The MultiRAE battery packs are plug-and-play and can be replaced on the go without tools. Three power options, and the consumables we stock to keep it running.

    2. Rechargeable Li-ion~12-hr. runtime · < 6-hr. recharge
    3. Alkaline adapter, 4 x AA~6-hr. runtime

Runtimes are for non-wireless monitors. The alkaline adapter takes four AA alkaline batteries (use only Duracell MN1500); alkaline batteries cannot be recharged, and the vibration alarm is disabled whenever the alkaline adapter is used.

    • Bump & calibrate

      AutoRAE 2

Fully automatic bump testing and calibration with AutoRAE 2, or manual calibration. Policy enforcement can require calibration and/or bump tests at set intervals (disabled by default).

    • Interval

      At least every 180 days

The MultiRAE must be calibrated if it does not pass a bump test, or at least once every 180 days, depending on use and sensor exposure to poisons and contaminants.

    • Datalogging

      6 months, 5 sensors

Continuous datalogging at 1-minute intervals, 24/7, with user-configurable intervals from 1 to 3,600 seconds. Data are retained in non-volatile memory.

    • Pump service

      Authorized personnel only

Only authorized personnel should replace the pump, and any attempt to change it yourself voids the warranty. Contact Honeywell or your Honeywell Distribution Center, or ask our Repair Depot how we can help.

    FAQ

Questions we get on the phone

How many gases can one MultiRAE monitor at once?
Up to six, and six readings require the CO + H2S combination sensor, which reads both CO and H2S from a single sensor position. A two-gas combination sensor is required for a 6-gas configuration. The MultiRAE family can display readings from one to six sensors (including dual sensor), depending on the configuration.
    Is wireless standard?
No, it is optional. Wireless and non-wireless configurations are available. The optional built-in RF modem works with ProRAE Guardian or EchoView Host networks, Wi-Fi is 802.11 b/g, and an integrated BLE modem is also optional. Additional equipment and/or software licenses may be required to enable remote wireless monitoring and alarm transmission.
    Can I swap sensors myself?
Yes. Intelligent sensors store calibration data, so they can be swapped in the field; RAE Systems recommends calibrating sensors on installation, and you should always calibrate the MultiRAE after replacing the sensor module. A slot cannot be left empty: if you remove a sensor without replacing it, install a MultiRAE “dummy” sensor.
How long does the battery last?
Rechargeable Li-ion: ~12-hr. runtime, < 6-hr. recharge time. Extended duration Li-ion: ~18-hr. runtime, < 9-hr. recharge time. Alkaline adapter with 4 x AA batteries: ~6-hr. runtime. These figures are for non-wireless monitors. Packs are plug-and-play and can be replaced on the go without tools.
    Is Man Down always on?
No. Man Down is off by default, with a 30-second motionless time and 30-second warning time by default once enabled. It is disabled while the MultiRAE is connected to an AutoRAE 2, truck mount, or desktop cradle.
How often does it need calibration?
The MultiRAE must be calibrated if it does not pass a bump test, or at least once every 180 days, depending on use and sensor exposure to poisons and contaminants. Bump testing and calibration can be fully automatic with AutoRAE 2, or manual. Our Repair Depot handles calibration too.
Is it rated for hazardous locations?
Yes. CSA Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C and D, T4 and Class II, Division 1; Groups E, F, G; T85°C, plus ATEX II 1G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga and IECEx Ex ia IIC T4 Ga (Ex ia d IIC T4 Gb with IR Sensor installed). See the Certifications tab for the full list.
Who handles service, calibration and repair?
FarrWest is a Honeywell Authorized Service Provider for BW and RAE Systems gas detection. Instruments covered by a Honeywell Service Made Simple Enhanced agreement are repaired, calibrated and returned by our Repair Depot. Coverage depends on the model and agreement, so see Honeywell warranty service or call 210.566.1857 to confirm.
